If you don’t have a Seiko in your watch collection, you’re totally missing out on some of the best watches for the money. Their latest releases (among many) consist of three mechanical GMT watches, two permanent releases and one limited edition. The SPB381, SPB383, and the Save the Ocean Limited Edition SPB385 are all 200-meter dive watches inspired by the brand’s own 1968 diver. The 24-hour GMT scale shows up on the inner rehaut ring instead of on the rotating bezel, which helps retain the dive watch ethos without compromising GMT functionality. The iconic Prospex look remains, thankfully. Cases are 42mm in width and 12.9mm thick, which is modest for a multi-function watch such as this. The watches also get a ceramic bezel insert, a three-link solid stainless steel bracelet, a foldover clasp with diver extension, and AR sapphire glass. The movement is a new Seiko caliber 6R54 with 72 hours of power reserve, and the GMT hand can be set independently in one-hour increments. The SPB381 has a green dial with green bezel, the SPB383 gets a black dial and bezel, and the limited edition SP385 gets a polar glacier-inspired ice-blue dial with a black bezel. The regular models get gold GMT lettering that matches the GMT hand, and the limited edition has a black GMT with matching lettering. Finally, the SPB385 gets a unique recycled bottle weave Nato strap that picks up the dial color. The SPB381 and SPB383 are part of the permanent collection, but only 4,000 pieces of the SPB385 will be made. All three models will be available this summer.
