The Coen Brothers 1998 film The Big Lebowski is simultaneously a cult classic and one of the best movies of the ’90s because of its combination of incredible talent, a unique story and impeccable direction. It’s spawned everything from conventions and bowling tournaments since it’s release, and now, you can add a spinoff to that list because John Turturro’s The Jesus Rolls is finally finished. Turturro wrote, directed and stars in this new film that sees him reprising his roll as the hilarious, crazy, bowling-ball-licking Jesus Quintana just after he gets out of prison. In a unique twist to traditional spinoff films, the film is also a remake of the 1974 French film Going Places that centers around a sexually depraved trio of characters–in this case Turturro, Bobby Cannavale and Audrey Tautou–running around and committing petty crimes. John Hamm, Pete Davidson, Susan Sarandon and Christopher Walken also make appearances. The Jesus Rolls will be released in theaters later this month.
