If you missed 2009’s Moon, you’re not alone. Despite winning a collection of awards and drawing praise from critics, the film seemed to fly under the public’s radar. If you were one of the few who saw and enjoyed Duncan Jones’s sci-fi film about a man alone on the moon, get excited for the film’s “spiritual sequel,” Mute. Alexander Skarsgård, Paul Rudd, and Justin Theroux star in the futuristic drama that’s set in Berlin in 2052. A mute bartender has lost the love of his life and he won’t stop traversing the Blade Runner-esque landscape until he gets her back. Sam Rockwell does show up as Sam Bell, so there is somewhat of a connection to Moon, even if it’s simply that this story takes place in the same universe. Mute hits Netflix on February 23.
