Berthil van Beek is a LEGO enthusiast that converted the Akiyuki Marble Run into a stand alone Great Ball Contraption made entirely from LEGO pieces. If none of that makes any sense—don’t worry, we’re with you—it’s basically an incredibly complicated perpetual motion machine that rockets LEGO soccer balls and basketballs through a winding roller coaster or tracks and accelerators at 1,000 RPMs. They call these ridiculous inventions “Great Ball Contraptions,” and this one is absolutely mesmerizing. We can’t even imagine the amount of time and effort that went in to creating this, but we’re happy that it’s finally finished so we can watch it on repeat in complete awe.

Unzip your coat and have some mulled wine on the house—you’ve arrived at your final gifting destination: The Holiday Gift Guide. It’s like your friendly neighborhood one-stop holiday shop, except instead of balsa wood ornaments, ours is packed with thoughtful gifts for everyone on your list. Future heirlooms, small-but-significant stocking stuffers, and gear for getting out there (or staying in)—are all right here. There’s no music playing in the background though, so you’ll just have to hum Bing Crosby while you click around instead.
