Beijing Daxing Airport

Beijing Daxing Airport

Whether it’s on a connecting flight, stranded on a delay or just during the course of normal travel, we’ve all spent time way too much time in airports. Airports suck, end of story. This is particularly true if you’ve ever spent any time flying into or out of the Beijing Capital International Airport. In an effort to alleviate that–and make the entire country more hospitable to travel as a whole–Zaha Hadid was tapped to build a brand new airport, Beijing Daxing, 28 miles outside the Beijing urban center. In addition to being a complete show stopper in terms of the architectural configuration and overall design, the new airport is only 20 minutes by express train from the city center and will accommodate up to 72 million travelers by 2025 when it’s operating at full capacity. The 7.5 million square foot facility is filled with organic lines, impressive structures and all the creature comforts, so we’re more than willing to plan our next trip through the airport.
