We Are Rewind Re-invented the Modern Cassette Player

As they say, everything that’s old is new again. This is particularly true when it comes to the world of music and, specifically, portable listening experiences. The vinyl record led to the cassette tape, led to the CD, led to Mini-Disc, led to modern streaming services and ultimately, back to everything vintage in both records and cassettes. Now, that ideal gets the modern hardware iteration its been waiting for with We Are Rewind’s re-imagined cassette player. As they put it, “The idea came to us after a year of riding a wave of 80s nostalgia, first started by the movie « Gardians of the Galaxy », and even the show « Stranger Things » and so we decided to re-make cassette tape players. We looked around us to find someone to join us on this adventure. And we found a French company right outside of Paris specialized in making high-quality audio materials.” Gone are the disposable batteries, clunky design and plastic construction in favor of rechargeable lithium batteries, aluminum construction and a minimalist design fit for an Apple catalog if they made those–along with modern tech like Bluetooth 5.0 functionality and a recording function. This is the truly modern version of the vintage cassette ideal as realized with current tech and attention to detail.
