A star-studded cast leads the way in Jacques Audiard’s The Sisters Brothers. After winning the Palme D’Or at the Cannes Film Festival for DHEEPAN, Audiard assembled a team that includes Joaquin Phoenix, John C. Reilly, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Riz Ahmed to do Patrick Dewitt’s novel justice. This is just a small taste of that justice, but it’s promising. It’s 1851 and Eli and Charlie Sisters (yes, they are the Sisters brothers) receive a contract to knock off a prospector who crossed their boss. A comedy thriller, of sorts, the story is rather unique, as you’ll tell from the trailer, and we’re all in.
