David Bernardo of Zelectric Motors and Michael Bream of EV West are just two guys who love vintage VWs and Porsches from the ’50s and ’60s. The two men started to build electric VW Beetles that interested them but not many else. And then Tesla took off, and the rest is history. Bernardo and Bream now can’t stop the orders from coming in, and there’s a long line of customers waiting for their electrified Porsches and VWs, which Zelectric Motors and EV West specialize in. This special project that uses a 1968 Porsche 912 gets the powertrain from a Tesla Model S P85, good for 550 horsepower. The little 912 is less than half the weight of the already fast Model S, so the results are pretty much ridiculous. They also do numerous projects involving the VW Microbus and Karmann Ghia, as well as other vintage Porsche models.
