Hold on to your hats, people, because a Russian startup just built a hoverbike. Well, kind of. The Scorpion-3 (S-3) platform is a “single-seat aircraft that rediscovers the art of flying and hovering, enabling a hi-tech quadcopter-based solution.” Is it a hoverbike? Is it a drone car? Is it a drone taxi? Is it a cargo drone? Honestly, we have no idea. We’re inclined to say it’s all of those things, but until someone lets us ride / pilot / enjoy one (we’ll sign the waiver without reading it!), it’s kind of difficult to pinpoint the exact niche that the Scorpion platform occupies. Based on the video and some details from the manufacturer, we know it can travel up to roughly thirty miles with a payload of up to 265lbs with special safety systems powered by state of the art flight controllers. But whether you’re controlling it remotely to deliver your packages or flying it yourself, one thing’s for sure—this is one helluva cool ride that we really, really want.
