Game of Thrones spin-off House of the Dragon Official Teaser Trailer

Game of Thrones spin-off House of the Dragon Official Teaser Trailer

GOT fans, rejoice! HBO has released the first official teaser trailer for the highly anticipated Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon. Based on George R. R. Martin’s book Fire and Blood, the television show will follow the history and rise of the Targaryen family centuries before the events of the mainline Game of Thrones series.

The trailer only gave brief glimpses of characters and action — there’s not much plot to be gleaned — but we did get a better sense of the style and tone of House of the Dragon. Plenty of classic GOT sword fighting, mythmaking, and, of course, dragons. Lots of dragons.

The impressive cast lineup includes Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Sonoya Mizuno, Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans, and Olivia Cooke. Because the series is set so long before the events of Game of Thrones, it’s unlikely that there will be much if any connection between the critically acclaimed show and this new prequel series. But for some fans that may be a good thing considering the reaction to the show’s final season.

House of the Dragon is set to release on HBO Max in 2022.
