The founder of Tesla, SpaceX, and a handful of other bold ventures, Elon Musk continues to offer glimpses of what the future may hold. His latest idea involves transporting people from New York to Los Angeles in an insane 25 minutes. How? A BFR. What’s a BFR? Well, in typical Musk fashion, it’s not some complicated combination of science-y words. It’s a Big Fucking Rocket. Yes, this is all theoretical now, but the idea is that passengers travel by rocket from a floating launch pad outside New York City to one in LA, or Shanghai, or London, or somewhere else. The rocket separates in space and the capsule is sent back down to Earth to arrive safely at its destination. It’s cool, but dibs on not going first.
