Eschewing the traditional GoPro look in favor of more playful cube, the new GoPro Hero4 Session is a bold departure from the brand’s iconic look. The reason: convenience. Weighing just 2.6 ounces, the 1.5″ cube is the smallest and lightest GoPro yet. Ditching the rectangular design also means it’s slightly less awkward when mounted, and while doing action-y stuff, every little bit helps. No extra case is required, the new Hero4 Session is waterproof to 33 feet all on its own. To add to the convenience factor, the entire camera features one-button operation so you can turn it on and start recording without an owner’s manual. These changes do come at a cost, however, as there’s no display on the camera and some of the performance numbers don’t stack up to previous models. Still, it’s a step in the right direction. The Hero4 Session goes on sale July 12.
