If you haven’t been following the Magic Leap saga, you’re probably not alone. The company has been incredibly tight-lipped about its products for a few years now. Well, those confusing tweets and radio silence finally gave way to a product—Magic Leap One. Comprised of a headset, a computer unit the user must wear, and a controller, Magic Leap One allows you to view the world in a whole new way. Using “Digital Lightfield Technology” the device adds digital creations to the world you perceive through the glasses (Lightwear). Through this technology, those creations can also interact and respond to the space you’re in. They’ll find surfaces and stop at walls. It’s what’s been called “Mixed Reality,” and it offers a great deal in both the gaming and the productivity worlds. The first units off the line will be for developers and those should be available some time next year.

Unzip your coat and have some mulled wine on the house—you’ve arrived at your final gifting destination: The Holiday Gift Guide. It’s like your friendly neighborhood one-stop holiday shop, except instead of balsa wood ornaments, ours is packed with thoughtful gifts for everyone on your list. Future heirlooms, small-but-significant stocking stuffers, and gear for getting out there (or staying in)—are all right here. There’s no music playing in the background though, so you’ll just have to hum Bing Crosby while you click around instead.
