The stock case for the iPad – yes, the one it should come with but you still have to pay $50 for – is fine, but it’s really nothing more than a stepping stone. Cladding your svelte new iPad in that case is the same as drinking a fine scotch from the plastic cups you had in college. There’s nothing wrong with it, but it’s just a little utilitarian for our taste. Apple wanted to step up their game too, but apparently all the engineers were busy working on the next best thing. So they called in designer Jack Spade. Jack’s exclusive Apple case is made of premium nylon and has a lot more protection (including a locking velcro latch) for your most precious of gadgets. It’s also fully dockable and retains the landscape and portrait viewing positions you’re accustomed to. Remember, there’s no Plan B for a busted iPad.

Vaer has been one of our favorite watchmakers for as long as we can remember because they produce new, classic watches based on iconic designs. Case in point, the Vaer G5 Meridian watch you see here. This timepiece is a 1950s-inspired 20ATM automatic watch that’s USA-assembled, dual timezone, built with ocean-ready functionality, self-winding and the brand’s first true GMT (the latest version of their core dive watch design). What’s more, it pays homage to other watches that are incredibly more expensive or hard to come by whilst also adding new aspects that makes this Vaer G5 Meridian watch more desirable than the other options in our opinion.
