The Amazon Fire TV Stick does the same thing as one of the other devices you might already own. It’s Chromecast with a remote. Roku with Dolby Digital Plus surround. Apple TV with Prime Instant Video. It also has a dual-core processor, 1GB memory, 8GB flash storage, dedicated VideoCore4 GPU and Amazon Instant Video ASAP (Advanced Streaming and Prediction) so you don’t have to wait for your movies to start streaming. At $39, the only thing cheaper is Chromecast, but until 10/29, Amazon is offering to Prime members for $19 (and yes, you can sign up for the free 30 day trial just to buy it). Apple TV is great, but Prime Instant isn’t available. Chromecast is great too, but constantly plagued with connection issues every time you want to pause for another beer. With planned remote apps with voice search, hotel/guest wifi access and more games, it’s a good deal if you want to play with something new, want a remote or have an Amazon device.
