Vans canvas sneakers will likely never go out of style, at least to those who can’t wake up before 11 am. Now, the iconic checkerboard pattern that emerged from skateboarding culture in the ‘70s and made popular by Sean Penn’s Jeff Spicoli character in Fast Times at Ridgemont High in the ‘80s lives on and morphs on in a near-hallucinatory blurred version. The famous low-top sneaker takes the checkerboard pattern and adds a blurred effect to the forefoot and heel sections, making you look at least partially very fast or just plain right-on-track to the inebriated. The classic rubber waffle outsole remains, as do the shape and the pillow-like comfort that slackers everywhere have come to love almost more than Spicoli, himself. At least the laces are in focus, which should help the tying process.
