Renowned sunglasses brand Oakley has once again pushed the industry forward with their latest performance eyewear release: Kato. While the aesthetic is fully retro, recalling nostalgic skiwear, the engineering is futuristic–designed for the next generation athlete. With a frameless construction, customizable nosepad, and tilt function, the Kato series is meant to mold perfectly to the human face creating a seamless piece of eyewear. Oakley explains that wearing the Kato will be akin to wearing a mask as the shades comfortably wrap around the contours of your face. Moreover, the lenses, currently available in Prism and Road, are built to better filter light offering crisper colors and higher contrast. Oakley cites 45 years of R&D work that went into building the Kato model and tasked professional athletes like Patrick Mahomes and Mark Cavendish with testing the eyewear’s durability and performance before decking out all of their official athletes at the summer Tokyo Olympics. The Kato is one of the most high-profile releases from Oakley and is sure to mark a new era of performance eyewear.
