Time To Touch: iPod Nano Watch Bands

The iPod Nano crams a lot of features into a very tiny package. You get 8gb or 16gb of music, fitness, FM radio and Nike+ in something hardly larger than a quarter. But let’s be honest here, compared to your iPhone 4 and your iPad it’s pretty much worthless as a media device. As a watch on the other hand, it’s a shiny, colorful, pretty slick piece of technology. Strap, lock or bolt it into one of these straps and turn it into something useful – a watch. Hell, for $230 (with cost of strap), it might be worth buying a Nano for this explicit purpose.

Elecom Leather  – $36

This watch band is – hopefully – the closest you’ll ever get to being in a Cure cover band. Strap on this leather cuff, attach your Nano and go rock out. Just do it without the nylon.

HEX Watch Band – $30

Sooner or later, you’re going to get to that age where you don’t want silicone rubbing around on your body. Thankfully, today is not that day. Available in nine different colors, it’s going to be hard to keep your hands off this piece of silicone.

iTorq – $45+

Adding more metal to anything – even your wrist – is never a bad idea. With no clasps or serious locking mechanisms, it’s as easy to take off as it is to put on.

County Comm Nano Watch Bands – $17

The most utilitarian of the bunch, the County Comm Nano Watch Band is nothing more than a 22mm Maratac Nylon strap that your Nano slides onto. You’re wearing a computer on your arm, the strap itself doesn’t have to be complicated.

TikTok and LunaTik – $35 / $75

Raising close to a million bucks on Kickstarter, MNML’s TikTok and LunaTik are – in our opinion – your best looking options for everyday use. They both use the same silicone strap, but the locking mechanisms is where it gets interesting. The TikTok locks your Nano with a ski binding mechanism and the LunaTik fully encompasses your Nano with two pieces of aerospace grade aluminum.

Belkin Wrist Fit – $20

If you’re looking for a wrist mounted pedometer, the flexible neoprene material and velcro closure of the Belkin Wrist Fit can’t be beat.

Leather Bottle Opener Band – $50

Do you really need an explanation about why combining leather, a bottle opener and a gadget is a great idea? We thought not.

iWatchz – $25

Press, slide and click your Nano into one of the eight different silicone strap colors and you’re quickly on your way to surpassing your digital Casio glory days.

Incipio Wristband – $25

Next-gen polymer coupled with an interchangeable velcro and nylon strap and geometric styling make this a watchband you’ll never want to take your Nano out of.
