Jet Beetle

Jet Beetle

We can think of a long list of crazy things to do with a Volkswagen Beetle. Crash it into a wall. Hippie chicks. Herbie: Fully Loaded. Assorted things with Lindsey Lohan during Herbie: Fully Loaded. Crushing it with a giant robot. You get the idea. Never, and we mean like “in a million years” never, would we have thought to make it a hybrid – let alone one with a jet engine. The Jet Beetle was stock until Ron Patrick added a General Electric Model T58-8F helicopter engine to the rear end. The stock horsepower numbers on a Beetle are anemic, but the addition of a 1350hp jet engine converts it to shock and awe. This could very well be the only Beetle in the history of creation that we wouldn’t have a problem driving. That could just be because it’s powerful enough to be classified as a national security threat. Seriously.
