VUHL 05

VUHL 05

Looks like 2014 is the year we can finally live out our Speed Racer fantasy. Making its initial debut in the U.K. and North American markets next year is the VUHL 05. The latest offering from Mexico’s VUHL (Vehicles of Ultra High Performance and Lightweight) is a racetrack ready two-seater that happens to be street legal. The 05 has a monocoque chassis with a reinforced plastic body (carbon fiber is optional) that barely registers on the scale at 1532 pounds. Get yourself some super cool goggles though as the windshield is more of a bug deflector than anything else. Under the hood is a Ford 2.0 ECO Boost turbocharged engine that makes 285 horsepower through a 6 speed manual tranny. Get it on the track and 0 to 62 mph is a memory at 3.7 seconds with a top speed of 152 mph. Initial production will be limited to 50.
