Volvo Trucks wants in on the autonomous revolution and has just shown us the near future in its Vera autonomous truck that looks, well, nothing like a truck. First of all, it’s fully electric and totally cabless, looking more like a hybridization of a robotic dog and a military vehicle, only with a slightly friendlier aesthetic that uses warm colors and smooth curves. Its intended use is repetitive commercial transport between two points that also blends into its surroundings. In terms of utility, Fleets of Veras will use a transport control center as the communication, logistics, and charging hub. Vera will not only increase efficiency with its powertrain, it should also reduce delivery costs, increase product availability, and also interact with users. This could very well be the future of short-range commercial transport.
