The Arc Bicycle Is 3D Printed in Stainless Steel

Everyone knows that 3D printing is the wave of the future, but most of us associate the entire process with tiny pieces printed in plastic. In collaboration with the MX3D engineers in Amsterdam, a student team from TU Delft designed and printed this fully functional Arc Bicycle from stainless steel. The three-month project was ultimately realized using WAAM (Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing), a 3D printing technique based on MIG welding that allows for multi axis printing, and articulated robot arms that are mesmerizing to watch. The bike isn’t available for purchase (yet!), but it truly demonstrates how far the technology has come and where it’s going.
