In what might be the most interesting eBay Motors auction in recent memory, an insanely reworked 1981 Pontiac Trans Am gets almost enough horsepower to make itself believe its a backwoods Bugatti Chiron. Modded by Schwartz Performance (no connection to Spaceballs) with over 2,200 hours of labor, the white on black Pontiac received a monstrous 6.9-liter twin turbo V8 engine transplant that delivers 1,300 horsepower, enough to hurtle the red “Screaming Chicken” on the hood to over 200 miles per hour. But there’s more than just the insane power since the car has to be able to manage all of it without disintegrating when the throttle is mashed. A custom-made chassis, a roll cage, adjustable coil-over suspension, and a custom exhaust to manage airflow from the big motor are all designed to handle the car’s capabilities. Throw in a ratchet-style automatic shifter, some strong and slick red Forgeline wheels, a new black and silver interior, and proper racing harnesses for driver and passenger, and you’re ready for the kind of showy drag racing that will certainly draw a crowd. The car was recently up for sale on eBay for $160,000, but it appears to have been sold.
