Sexy electric is kinda Tesla’s bag. In fact, few others have been able to deliver the same performance and styling in an all-electric package. But that’s about to change. The Porsche Mission E is a fully electric vehicle set to go on sale in 2019. Propelled by two permanent magnet synchronous motors, the Model E boasts more than 600 hp and can hit 60 from a stand still in 3.5 seconds. The bulk of the battery lies flat along the underbelly, meaning a lower center of gravity and, thus, better lateral dynamics. In other words, this thing is going to be fun to drive. It also features turbo-charging. And no, not the turbo-charging you’re thinking of. Here, Porsche is talking about the fact that the Mission E can get a 250-mile charge in only 15 minutes. Pop in for a coffee and your car will have a solid charge when you come out. Equally impressive is the dash, which features digital gauges that follow the drivers eyes and adjust based on where they are so the steering wheel never blocks the view of important information. If the Porsche pulls all this off, Tesla might have to up its game.
