The Concept GLB, a smaller and more modern brother of the squarish G-Wagen SUV, is a compact SUV that actually holds up to seven occupants. The new concept is meant to show off the upcoming GLB crossover for the German brand by displaying its interior space and off-road capability. In addition to the third row’s ability to ferry two medium-sized passengers (big kids? small adults?) the concept boasts all-terrain tires on off-road wheels, black fender well trim, roof-mounted lights, and a clamshell storage box. Inside, Nappa leather and nubuck hides with orange stitching slather the cabin in luxury, while the high-res MBUX screens span over half of the dash. The second row provides an Easy-Entry capability for passengers by sliding 5.5 inches forward and even split 60/40 or 40/20/20 for storage versatility. Power comes from a turbo four with 224 horses mated to all four wheels. The production version probably won’t see some of the more exclusive touches like the roof lights and roof box, and front wheel drive will be standard with AWD optional. Look for the production GLB to hit showrooms in late 2019 or early 2020.
