MAT Is Giving the Stratos a New Lease on Life

MAT Is Giving the Stratos a New Lease on Life

The Lancia Stratos might be a car that hasn’t been talked about much in the past few decades, but in its prime it was an absolute powerhouse that took the World Rally Championships by storm. Manufattura Automobili Torino (MAT) is an Italian shop that’s giving the Stratos a new lease on life with the appropriately named New Stratos. The car itself is based on a Ferrari F430 Scuderia with a 7.9″ shorter wheelbase, updated exhaust and exterior and a new transmission, which makes it a functionally better version of the Ferrari it’s based on. The story of how it got made is even crazier than the performance specs of the car itself with multiple failed launches, Pininfarina involvement, art school project, German billionaires and new companies. The very first of the 25 limited production vehicles is set to be auctioned off by Bonhams tomorrow with an upper range of around $1million. If you want to bid, or read more about the incredible story of the car, check it out here.
