Krautmotors Custom Made a BMW F 850 GS Motorcycle in Honor of the 100th Anniversary of Bauhaus

This year is the 100th anniversary of the Staatliches Bauhaus, aka Bauhaus, aka one of the most influential art schools and design movements of all time. In order to celebrate that influential centenary, Krautmotors custom-built a BMW Motorrad F 850 GS motorcycle that is best described as out of this world in a very Bauhaus way. Equal parts retro style meets modern tech, and clean, minimal lines meet exposed brutalist mechanicals, this bike is equally at home in an art gallery as it is on the road. Rolf, the man behind Krautmotors, designed and/or self-built parts ranging from the fork and the tank, to the exhaust and the seat, along with completely modifying the R60/6 frame to reference Marcel Breuer’s “Lounge Chair” piece. Rigid rear end to complete the look and handle the new upgrades. Custom moon disc solid wheels wrapped in vintage rubber. 850cc parallel-twin engine with Mikuni carbs and a custom exhaust system. It’s a gorgeous bike that’s also a fitting tribute to the school of design it was built to honor.
