Homage cars don’t always live up to the original. But we have to say that boutique automaker Kimera’s homage to the Lancia 037 Group B rally racer is about as awesome as they come. It bowed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed earlier this summer, and it will be produced in a very limited number: 37. The carbon-fiber bodywork is not an exact copy of the Lancia 037’s shape, but it’s an evolutionary modern interpretation of the squared-off original, adding the big ducktail spoiler of the 037 rally car. The mid-engined bespoke EVO37 is powered by a 2.1-liter four-cylinder Abarth engine (the same displacement as the original), but this time it’s both supercharged and turbocharged for 505-horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. That might not seem astronomical by current supercar standards, but consider that it weighs a little over 2,000-lbs. The mill is mated to a six-speed manual transmission that routes power to the rear wheels for maximum fun, and the Alcantara-slathered interior is both sporty and posh all at once. Priced at $585,000, the EVO37 is quite a bit cheaper than the Ferrari SF90 Stradale and way cooler.
