Cadillac InnerSpace Concept

While you might envision Martin Short’s distorted face when you see the name of this new autonomous EV from GM’s luxury brand, we can assure you the two are unrelated. Revealed at CES earlier this year, the InnerSpace Concept is pretty radical given the fact that it has no steering wheel at all. Instead, it supplants the steering wheel with a big LED display that shows Augmented Reality Engagement, Entertainment, and Wellness Recovery themes for the two occupants. It uses Caddy’s new Ultium EV platform that currently underpins the Hummer EV and the new Chevy Silverado EV. The platform’s wireless battery management system spreads the battery modules around, providing a low and flat floor, as well as copious amounts of loungy space. Users can change the seating configuration, and the massive and steeply raked panoramic glass provides untrammeled views. The doors open along with the roof for easy ingress and egress. Whether or not it’s low slung enough to go under a tractor trailer is something we’re on the edge of our seats to find out.
