It’s too bad we can’t get the rugged Toyota Hilux in America (we get the excellent Tacoma, though). It’s still sold overseas and is known for its toughness. Arctic Trucks has taken the light-duty midsize truck and outfitted it for serious winter duties. It’s called the AT35, and it’s meant for arctic-level capabilities. They took a Hilux Invincible X Double Cab and modified its frame and suspension for extreme conditions. 2.5 inches of ground clearance were added, and the approach and departure angles were increased. It also received 17-inch Arctic Trucks alloy wheels shod with 35-inch All-Terrain tires. In order to tell it apart visually from the standard Hilux, AT gave it front and rear wings, new side steps, unique AT35 badging, and a 30th-anniversary decal. Buyers can upgrade with full underbody protection, LED light bar, and even mud-terrain tires with an onboard inflation/deflation kit. Sounds perfect for the rather ugly winter we’re experiencing in the states.
