Sheffield Revives a Classic: Crafting Quality, Technology, and Affordability Into Every Timepiece

The microbrand making watches the old-fashioned way. By overdelivering.

Some revivals are just low-hanging nostalgia plays. Sheffield’s isn’t. It’s a rebirth with intention. It’s rooted in a 1970 dive watch founder Jay Turkbas received as a kid and rebuilt with the kind of obsessive modern craftsmanship you only get from someone with 35+ years in global product development.

Turkbas didn’t want to simply recreate his first Sheffield. He wanted to honor it by making something better. Something sturdier, sharper, and built with the transparency the modern watch world desperately needs. And from the looks of it, he’s done exactly that.

A Legacy Rebuilt, With the Right Partners

That mission caught the eye of comedian and longtime watch nerd Spike Feresten, who backed the brand from day one. Their collaboration has already produced the SCR Collection, a lineup of Swiss-movement chronographs, Camp watches, and the cult-favorite St. Barths Diver 1A. These are the kinds of pieces that look (and perform) like they should cost far more. But don’t.

The rest of the catalog follows suit. From the heritage-inspired Allsport Diver series to the Swiss-powered SUPERPRODUCTION line and even the limited Jay Leno’s Garage Driver’s Watch collab, Sheffield builds robust, thoughtfully spec’d watches designed for actual wear, not just shelf admiration.

Premium Details—Without the Premium Price

Inside the cases, you’ll find trusted Seiko, Miyota, and Swiss Sellita movements. Outside: Swiss Super-LumiNova, sapphire crystals, quality straps, and case finishing you usually only see in higher-end microbrands. Nothing flashy. Just the right decisions in all the right places.

And unlike most brands dancing around manufacturing origins, Sheffield is radically transparent. Turkbas openly shares where parts come from, how watches are tested, and why every build decision is made. Independent waterproofing and accuracy verification are part of the standard process. Not marketing fluff.

A Modern Lineup With One Foot in History

The result is a collection that feels both familiar and new. A tribute to that original 1970 Allsport, reimagined through modern engineering and shaped by collaborators who genuinely care about the craft.

Whether you’re underwater or just sliding a cuff over your wrist before heading out, Sheffield is proof that honesty, heritage, and high specs don’t have to cost a fortune.
