It’s hard to overstate the significance of Toyota’s first all-electric vehicle. The new bZ4X is essentially a concept that is damned near close to what we’ll see in production, if not exactly the same. The brand’s first entrant into the segment is significant because it’s a crossover and not a sedan (a smart move given it’s the fastest-growing segment in the industry) and because it takes the Toyota design language to new, more dramatic heights. It kinda looks like a RAV4 that underwent the knife for a sci-fi movie. There are more creases, more vents, and more reflective light play, as a result. The black trim around the fenders and roof add to the menace. Inside, the bZ4X is rife with technology and possesses refined materials and a fresh, open feel. Not much in terms of the electric powertrain or pricing has been released, but the bZ4X will go on sale sometime in 2022. It will actually sell under the “bZ” (beyond Zero) electrified sub-brand that will include a whopping 70 models globally.
