Paris Floating Cinema

There’s no denying the fact that we’re living in weird and strange times that require all of us to think differently about what we’re doing outside and where we’re going. This will most likely lead to the untimely death of the classic movie theater experience, but it has also led to a resurgence in family and socially-distant friendly drive-in movie theater experiences. The French, as always, are doing things a little bit differently with the Paris Plages – Cinema on Water experience. As you might have gathered from the event title, this “drive-in” experience involves boats instead of cars and will take place with various screenings until August 30th. Residents and visitors alike can register to win spots in one of 38 electric boats or 150 deckchairs that have been properly socially-distanced to ensure maximum safety and enjoyment of the films (Le Grand Bain was screen a couple days ago) that are displayed on the 27′ x 48′ screen on the water. American’s can’t even travel to Europe right now, but here’s hoping this sort of experience makes it stateside in the near future.
