Jim Morrison’s ‘Paris Journal’ is Headed to Auction

No list of rock stars that embodied the live-hard-die-young lifestyle would be complete with Jim Morrison, front man of The Doors. Prior to his death almost fifty years ago, Morrison was spending time in Paris where he created a few different notebooks of handwritten thoughts and poems. The appropriately titled “Paris Journal” you see here is the rare and historic unrecorded third notebook and is being sold from the private collection of Pamela Ashley. When the first two books in the series sold at auction they fetched between $140k – $200k; this green-tinted composition book is expected to fetch up to $100k when it heads across the block next month. The “Music Icons” auction that the notebook is part–it also includes Cobain’s ‘MTV Unplugged’ Guitar–of will take place online June 19th and 20th. Prior to the auction, the Paris Jounral will be on display at the Julien’s Auctions house for three days leading up to the auction.
