Google’s easy-to-use Chromecast device has gotten a revamp with some new features worth noting. First of all, and we’re not sure what took so long, there’s a dedicated remote control. Secondly, that remote uses voice control via Google Assistant that allows you to search for shows or apps. The remote will also operate other Google devices in your home like NEST-compatible smarthome components. The remote also has dedicated YouTube and Netflix buttons, so little time is wasted to get your binge-watching on. The new Chromecast also has a built-in Android TV operating system that obviates the need for casting apps from your phone to the TV. Download apps directly to the device/TV, and no casting is required. There’s also Google TV that keeps everything organized front-and-center. Finally, the new Chromecast streams 4K content at up 60 frames per second and supports Dolby Vision HDR, as well as Dolby audio content. More COVID-19 shut-in for the foreseeable future? Bring it.
