Matt Stevens is a designer and illustrator from Charlotte that’s on a quest to create an art book and set of prints focused on 100 of his favorite films reimagined as vintage book covers. The appropriately titled ‘Good Movies as Old Books’ project was started as a creative exercise and way to experiment with new techniques and mediums, and the results so far–Stevens already has 60+ options done–are quite impressive. Drive reimagined with a dark gradient cover with bright pink scorpion. Mad Max: Fury Road as a psychedelic collection of the main characters. Mission Impossible with a man hanging on a wire with laser beam detailing. Gattaca with a rocket ship, fingerprint and double helix. Fight Club visualized with vintage boxing style of a man fighting his own shadow. Based on what we’ve seen so far, the designer has very similar taste in movies. We can’t wait to see all 100 in book or print firm on high quality, archival giclee paper.
