It’s pretty hard to get your mitts on the new Ford Bronco, so the very limited run of 50 Bronco Desert Runners should have customers in a frenzy. It’s the same vehicle Ford will run in the 2022 Baja 1000 off-road endurance race, and it’s built to take punishment. While the chassis, body structure, and brake calipers are bone stock, the rest of it is exclusive to the DR. It gets way more suspension travel, huge mud-terrain tires on beadlock wheels, a full roll cage, and a huge 65-gallon fuel tank. Most importantly, however, is the 400+ horsepower 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine that should give it way more punch and thrust than the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 found in the other top-spec Bronco trims. The DR will also cost way more, to the tune of nearly a quarter-million bucks. You also won’t be able to drive it on the street, so forget about jumping those oversized speed bumps in your neighborhood.
