Top Gun is back and Pete “Maverick” Mitchell returns (Tom Cruise) in top form 34 years after the original movie. The first peek at the long-awaited follow up to the iconic combat pilot action/drama just broke, and it looks like it’ll echo a lot from the first Top Gun movie with plenty of dogfighting and training footage, sweaty bare chests/volleyball, and a lot of manly one-liners from the likes of Cruise, and Val Kilmer (Iceman), as well as strong roles by Miles Teller (as the deceased Goose’s son), Ed Harris, Jon Hamm, and Jennifer Connelly. Cruise does his level best at mentoring new pilots in changing times where advanced ground-based air defences do the heavy lifting, and the Miramar Top Gun school struggles to survive amid the upheaval. The question remains, “Do you feel the need, the need for speed?” The movie debuts in theaters next summer, but you can watch the trailer here.

Vaer has been one of our favorite watchmakers for as long as we can remember because they produce new, classic watches based on iconic designs. Case in point, the Vaer G5 Meridian watch you see here. This timepiece is a 1950s-inspired 20ATM automatic watch that’s USA-assembled, dual timezone, built with ocean-ready functionality, self-winding and the brand’s first true GMT (the latest version of their core dive watch design). What’s more, it pays homage to other watches that are incredibly more expensive or hard to come by whilst also adding new aspects that makes this Vaer G5 Meridian watch more desirable than the other options in our opinion.
