Watfly Atlas eVTOL Aircraft

We’ve covered quite a few different flying cars–aka eVTOL (electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing) vehicles–over the years. All of the options so far have looked more like cars with rotors strapped to the top or helicopters with wheels strapped to the bottom. The Watfly Atlas eVTOL Aircraft does things a little differently with its tailsitter style design that has the pilot sit in between wings with pairs of rotors. Once the Watfly Atlas takes off, the wings rotate horizontally (similarly to a Harrier) for forward flight. Pair that design with stiff and light carbon fiber construction and powerful rotors and you get up to an hour of flight time and a top speed of up to 125mph. The impressive design and performance is nothing to scoff at, but the most incredible feature is that the vehicle due for release next year won’t require a pilot’s license to operate. Unfortunately, because of its recreation-only designation, it cannot fly over cities, towns or congested areas.
