Peace and quiet are as essential to the writer as a computer or a pen and paper. While you can buy the latter at a store, getting your hands on the former isn’t always so easy. TRIAS, an architecture studio based in Sydney, has a solution for those in Wales. The Slate Cabin is a single room structure that boasts an exterior made predominantly of slate, which is found throughout the mountains around the escape hut. The slabs of slate are arranged like shingles, giving the cabin a roof-like look, and the interior is composed of light birch plywood, contrasting the exterior in an eye-pleasing way. The interior is sparse and clean, offering the person trying to write a bit of calm in their life. It sure beats a noisy office or a chatty coffee shop.
