The Swedish Solar Egg Sauna Is the Best Egg of 2019

The Swedish Solar Egg Sauna Is the Best Egg of 2019

The big news in eggs so far this year is the picture of an egg on Instagram that absolutely crushed Kylie Jenner’s previous record for most likes (18mil) with just shy of 48 million likes as of this writing. This particular egg is definitely not edible, but it’s a whole lot more incredible. Solar Egg is a sculptural container just installed at Luossabacken in Kiruna (Sweden’s northernmost town) after being designed and built by the artist duo Bigert & Bergström. The stainless golden mirror sheeting that makes up the faceted exterior is certainly impressive in its own right, but it’s the sauna hidden inside this functional art piece that truly takes it to the next level. When the steps are lowered, you have access to the wooden clad interior with its custom, heart-shaped sauna stove made out of iron and stone that heats the Solar Egg Sauna up to a balmy 185 degrees Fahrenheit. Bonus points because it also has incredible views of the surrounding landscape.
