Zagato Is Rebuilding Lost Porsches From Photographs

Zagato, the Italian design firm and atelier who’s probably best known for taking cars from well-known coach builders like Aston Martin and Maserati and making them even more absurd, is taking their magical creations one step further and rebuilding lost Porsches from photographs. Their Porsche Sanction Lost series includes nine examples each of the Porsche 356 Carrera Zagato Coupe and Porsche 356 Carrero Speedster that carry with them incredible stories and even more striking lines. The Speedster was originally created as a one-off that was wrecked by owner/racer Claude Storez. In their archive search for photographic material to recreate the Speedster, Zagato found an image to use as a starting point, but they also found a drawing of a car that was never built—the Coupe. All eighteen examples of the two historic vehicles are spoken for. If you’re curious about the cost, according to Robb Report, “$350,000 not including the cost of a six-figure, period-specific 356.” We’re all probably going to end up just ogling these from afar.
