In 5 years, the past and the future will meet, as Volkswagen’s I.D. Buzz, the company’s long-teased electric bus hits showrooms. Originally unveiled at the North American International Auto Show earlier this year, the adventure-ready vehicle blends the old school charm of the iconic VW bus with modern tech. Electric motors on each axle help deliver 369 hp and an overall range of around 300 miles, meaning you can hit a campsite, surf spot, or outdoor festival without filling up if you live relatively close to your destination. And since perfect surfing conditions and impromptu hikes can’t wait, the VW I.D. can get an 80% charge in just 30 minutes. Want old? You get the classic two-tone design. Want new? You also get LED headlights that act as “eyes” to communicate the vehicles status. The 8-passenger ride boasts 162.5 cubic feet of cargo space and could give way to a fully automated version in 2025.
