Even if you never thought about overlanding, the new TruckHouse BCT Toyota Tacoma-based camper might just get you started in the rugged, off-grid lifestyle. The Nevada company has designed its BCT to be truly comprehensive and even four-seasons ready. The single-piece carbon fiber composite shell was constructed with vacuum infusion for strength and lightness. It has seven windows and a big skylight to make it seem bigger inside, and all the windows are double-paned for insulation. Inside is an over-cab queen-size bed and a convertible dinette that converts to a full-size bed. There’s also a galley kitchen and a wet bath with a cassette toilet, a 30-gallon freshwater tank, a 20-gallon gray-water storage tank, and a powerful electrical system. Truckhouse even offers lithium-ion batteries and a rooftop solar array for power when you can’t connect to outside power. You can also add heated floors, at 32-inch TV, outdoor audio speakers, and even an awning. To get in under the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating, the Tacoma truck that comes with the trailer gets modified, and it also gets upgrades like new brake rootrs, new suspension, and revised gearing for better low-end torque. You can custom build both the camper and the truck to your heart’s content, as well.
