Thrive Motorcycle 1951 BMW R51 Restomod

Thrive Motorcycle 1951 BMW R51 Restomod

Vintage “Beamer” motorcycles that are decades old still run today, and they still thrill on urban streets and open country roads, but there aren’t many legendary R51s left (only 18,000 were made), and Thrive Motorcycle based in Indonesia has just restomodded one to bring it to the modern age. Using the original engine and frame of a 1951 R51, Thrive crafted and modified new parts that were missing from the original, making it fresh but still keeping a vintage look. First off, the big fenders are no more, giving the bike leaner look. There’s a big square fuel tank with a new paint scheme, hand-hammered aluminum on the rear frame cover, new suspension covers for the front fork, and a new tractor-style single seat that’s similar to the original but brilliant incorporates the LED brake light. The finished product still looks like a vintage BMW but unlike any you’ve ever laid eyes on.
