Sometimes to know where you are going, you have to look at where you’ve been. Take a walk back in time to 1966 when a Ford GT40 won the 24 hours of LeMans for four consecutive years. At the time of its introduction it was simply referred to as the GT or GT-40. Fast forward to 2004 and Ford reintroduces the GT during a limited production run for about 4000 lucky enthusiasts. What about now you say? Making its debut for 2013, from the speed freaks at Galpin Auto Sports, is the GTR1. The GTR1 is Galpin’s somewhat aggressive vision of what the GT could have been had it remained in production. And when we say somewhat aggressive, we really mean hot damn! The twin-turbo V8 wedged somewhere in the mid-section of the GTR1 pegs the dyno at a staggering 1024 horsepower making 225 mph a scary reality. Do you need any additional details? Neither do we.
