The Aspark Owl Hits 60 MPH in 1.69 Seconds

The Aspark Owl Hits 60 MPH in 1.69 Seconds

If the 0-60 time of 2.4 seconds by the 1,500-horsepower Bugatti Chiron or the 1,244-horsepower Hennessey Venom feels a bit tepid for your speed-hungry self, there’s a new heavy-hitter in the form of the Japanese-made Aspark Owl. Though we’re not sure why it’s named after a sluggish nocturnal bird, the Owl is no slouch. The rigid and light monocoque chassis is full carbon fiber, and the body is made of carbon fiber-reinforced polymer. Most of the craziness, however, comes from the Owl’s four electric motors for a total of 2,012 horsepower and 1,475 lb-ft of earth-ripping oomph. The result is a 0-60 time of well under two seconds and a top speed of close to 250 mph. The 1,300kW lithium-ion battery pack delivers 280 miles of commuter-friendly all-electric range, but you’ll need to drive it for quite a while to make up for the $3.2 million price tag. No price has been estimated to put your facial features and internal organs back in their proper locations.
