Formula racing cars have always had a futuristic look to them. Their aerodynamic designs, huge wheels, and limited seating capacity are all things we look forward to using in our 2050 commutes. And that was all before Spark Racing Technologies debuted its Formula E concept car. There are all kinds of sharp cuts and weird shapes in the design of this car and it almost looks like the car is attempting to swallow its own wheels. But don’t expect the design to stop here. Spark isn’t done working out some structure details on the chassis, so we may end up with a design that follows the same template but looks much different. There are also reports that Formula E teams have seen designs for the same concept that look even crazier than what we’re showing you. Spark’s design, along with other companies’ concepts, is expected to hit the track in late 2018, which really isn’t that far away. And if these companies can deliver on their technological promises for Formula E, there’s reason to be excited for consumer level electric cars. Everything ends up getting sold to the public eventually.
