The current Ford Shelby GT500 is a 760-horsepower sports/muscle car that’s ultra-modern and righteously quick. But if you’re looking for something more powerful and more evocative of the past, then turn to Classic Recreations’ $298,000 GT500CR. The beautiful SpeedKore carbon-fiber bodied GT500CR drops 600 pounds for an optimal power-to-weight ratio. Power comes from a monstrous supercharged “Coyote” 5.0-liter V-8 that’s good for 810 horsepower. The Carbon Edition adds a limited-slip differential, coilovers, Wilwood brakes, and a Tremec six-speed manual transmission. They will be certified authentic by Shelby American, and each one will take 12 to 18 months to build. A mere 25 will be made.
