With all the other luxury car makers throwing their hats into the SUV ring, it was only a matter of time before Rolls-Royce joined the fray. Enter the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, the ultra-luxury SUV that’s so stereotypically Rolls-Royce that it almost justifies the expected $325,000 starting price (you knew it wasn’t gonna be cheap). They’ll toss around phrases like, “This is freedom absolute” and “Pinnacle luxury is now effortless, everywhere,” and honestly, after seeing the Cullinan we’re inclined to agree with all of it. For starters, it looks exactly like you’d imagine a Rolls SUV would—a Phantom (they share the same architecture) that sits higher with an SUV style rear that looks quite similar to another British automakers SUV. It’s packing a 6.6-liter twin-turbo V12 that outputs a respectable 563 horses and 627 pound-feet of torque. But it’s all the luxury features that make it great. The whole vehicle lowers by 1.6″ when you want to get in. The doors can automatically close themselves. The rear sets are pavilion style so you can see over the people in front. Divided cargo area for your luggage. Electronically controlled and self-adjusting suspension for even the most extreme situations. In short, it’s the famed Rolls-Royce “Magic Carpet Ride” now available in an SUV.
